My Lame Excuses for Not Blogging Aren’t Cutting It

It feels like forever since I wrote for Social Amateur. And actually, it has been a while. For someone who preaches the value of frequent, regular content, I haven’t exactly been demonstrating it.

someecards.com - You can try to sell me your excuses all day long, but I'm just not in the market to buy them.Do as I say, not as I do? Eh?

That’s a lame excuse. And really, there is no excuse. Social Amateur is important to me, and writing is important to me.

Starting 27 posts and never finishing any of them doesn’t cut it. And being lazy or busy or preoccupied is not an excuse.

Got it.

But because I’ve been out of the loop for a bit, I thought I’d let you know what I’ve been up to.

Fall is upon us, the kids are back in school (yay!) and I’ve started this not-so-fun ritual of waking up at 4:30 am to work on my own stuff for a while the house is still quiet.

VT Mommies, my other online/offline project, is going strong. I took on two partners, formed an LLC, mingled at conferences and events, planned, strategized and managed. It’s been a wild ride, but one that continues to excite me every day. I know the potential is there and this small business is gaining ground almost faster than I can keep up with. Almost.

As for my full-time job, well,  for the past three years I have been the Communications & Social Media Manager for Northwestern Vermont Board of REALTORS. Well, I was. In September, I was laid off. It wasn’t a surprise at all, and I actually wasn’t all that upset. It was a wonderful place to work, I met some great people, I learned a lot and I know that I took the association to a new level of marketing & communications.

Which brings me to my new position, as Marketing Director for RE/MAX North Professionals. This is a huge job, but the company is a great and the people are dedicated, professional, kind and fun. It’s a new adventure and I’m looking forward to the challenges and victories ahead.

The truth is, while I haven’t been busy on Social Amateur lately, you have seen me. Somewhere. Under some alias. I’m still reading your posts and following your tweets. I’m still around and I will be for a long time.

Mahatma Gandhi said “Action expresses priorities.” I guess it’s time I re-prioritize, stop the excuses and get back to the one thing that always makes me happy – writing.

Hello, again.
